Graphite, nailpolish and earring on paper.

The Beauty of the Past

Graphite on Paper

This piece exhibits the beauty of the past. I drew this in graphite in 2020 based on my memories of loved ones who have passed away. I spent many hours getting the darks dark and highlights bright. I was so proud of this creation, because I had never reached that level of realism before.

Though I only have a few memories of my grandmother, I specifically remember painting nails with my grandmother. She would wear pink Revlon nailpolish, and give me freedom to paint, or draw, even if I made a mess along the way. My aunt and I loved shopping, so the earring represents her influence.
